Dear Future Me,
I want you to know some things about yourself so when you get back you can see the change God has completed in you. The change of heart you are going to undergo. I know it seems awkward now but the future you will appreciate this. I want you to know that you are a pretty good guy, you believe in hope and love and faith. You are trying to seek Jesus but you have your doubts. You are striving so hard to find somewhere you belong. Somewhere to call your own. You want an identity. Everyone keeps telling you to find it in Christ and you are trying, but it’s a lot harder than everyone else always makes it out to be. It’s ok I think you will get there. I don’t know where you are going to be when you look back on this. But don’t forget to forgive yourself and just enjoy life. Don’t forget to slow down. To love. Witch reminds me if you are married when you read this that would be really weird. You are getting nervous about finding your ” one ”. I hope that whether you are single, married, or broken that you realize that it will take Jesus in both of your lives for things to work out. Moses the homeless man in Atlanta once told you to let God pick your woman, or you could end up like him. Your favorite cd’s right now are The Great Divide by Hanson, A Lesson In Romantics by Mayday Parade and Opposite way by Leeland. Music will change a lot but it is ok. Don’t beat yourself and think you will never make a difference in the lives of men. Don’t think that its all in vain because everything is oversaturated, everyone is ”better” than you. Let God guide you. Let the holy spirit move you. Just do your best and God will love it more than you can ever love yourself. Don’t forget where you come from. But don’t be afraid to move on. You are different than you were and you will always be changing. That’s ok. Keep moving. Keep loving. Keep seeking. Embrace a personal relationship with Jesus and you will make it. Your friends will be there along the way and do’nt you ever take them for granted. If you loose sight of the small relationships you have you will never make it.
I would say I love you but that would be vain, and I know you can get a big head,
Ill see you soon
- Bobby

I don’t know you Bobby I found your post through Tim Samples I also attend Oakleaf.
I have had the pleasure of leading a lot of teens to the place where they would take the step you are taking! I enjoyed every moment of it. I wish each of those teens would have written a letter to themselves like the one you have done prior to their mission experience. I know you are going to have the time of your life and God is going to do amazing things!! I will pray for you while you are gone…. I hope to meet you sometime in the future!

You don’t know this, but I heard you typing this this morning. And I think your mom woke me up crying. Just seemed like you would want to know that.
I haven’t told you this, but I’ve been really scared that when you come back you’re going to be too cool or too different or something to enjoy our stupid company anymore, but I don’t think I have to worry about that now. I think you’ve got the right idea.
So anyway, are you there yet? You remember what they say about Amsterdam and bad boys…
Keep in awkwardly close touch.
Love,
Chandler

It is weird how the body of Christ is connected. I was reading a post by Roye Glass, who had introduced me to Tim Samples, so I hit his blog about you. Anyway all I want to say is I will be praying for you while you are in Kenya. God will change you while you are there just as he has changed you here. Continue to be open to His heart. Oh, how my heart longs to go back to East Africa again. May the Peace of Christ be upon you.

Hey man, Welcome back to the States, and karibu Kenya someday soon. I’m a teacher at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya and have been here since 2005. Maybe I’ll see you back here someday?
Funny post. Reminds me of Jim’s faxes to Dwight in season 3 of The Office. If you don’t watch, don’t start. It’s a terrible addiction.
God bless,
Ryan
